BBSP understands that many of our customers will want to modify our products to achieve specific functionality, and optimize the overall performance of their integrated systems. Because of this, all BBSP products include an open source FPGA for signal processing, which allows the user to add proprietary front end processing algorithms to the product.
For a variety of reasons, customers with strong FPGA programming skills will prefer to perform these modifications themselves, making the FPGA cores we ship with our cards the starting point of their development. BBSP provides the end user access to all source code, project files, documentation, and where applicable, test benches. All our code is thoroughly commented, and cross referenced against our hardware and software manuals. We also provide technical support through email and conference calls.
One of the key lessons we ve learned from integration of embedded systems is that there is a high probability that our customers will want to modify our products to achieve specific functionality, and optimize the overall performance of the integrated system. But translating a processing algorithm from a mathematical transfer function to RTL level code which consistently meets timing can be very difficult, and is usually underestimated. For customers who require non-standard functionality, but lack the requisite FPGA programming resources, BBSP offers FPGA customization as a service.
